It was because 'our boy' Key (Ch Biddestone Picaro) was mated with Callie (Ch Otterkin Blue Note) in the mid nineties that we really got to know Kathy and Ronnie. We should have suspected what was to follow when after the 'liaison' had sucessfully taken place, Kathy decided to take Callie 'around the block' for a little walk. Two hours later, as dusk descended, we were full of admiration for the level of dedication this lady had for for giving her dogs such 'hearty' exercise - it was only a further hour later when Kathy and Callie arrived home by moonlight, we discovered they had somehow got totally and utterly lost during the walk round the block!!
During the coming years, we have become firm friends and as can be seen from our second and third generation litters, the Otterkin influence has been been strongly influential in our line. We have enjoyed many a good time 'over a cup of tea' (now I can uncross my fingers!!) with Kathy and Ronnie and Jane Parker (Conundrum) who is also a close friend.
From the Key-Callie mating, Ch Otterkin Lyricist was born - to date he has won 7 CCs and 10 Res CCs, the last approaching his 7th birthday at Crufts 2003. We are proud that Key is the sire of Toodie (Lyricist) who besides being a top quality Border, also has a rock steady temperament - he is a lovely boy! Otterkin Overture for Haughbrae, from the same litter, has also won a Res CC.
Kathy and Ronnie's careful breeding pattern over the last two decades has been reflected in their success rate having bred 7 British Champions to date.
Lyricist is the sire of our own Boo (Ch Lutrabeck Limerick - refer 'Second Generation' page) and Minxie (Ch O C I Write The Songs) (pictured above on either side of Dad!); he has also sired other other quality Borders such as Ch Dykeside Durham Ranger and Ch Conundrum Co-Writer.
